No. The installer handles everything — Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, SSL. You answer a few questions and it sets up your platform. Post-install configuration is all done through the admin panel UI.
Any VPS running Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 with at least 2GB RAM. DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, or any provider works. We recommend starting with a $12/mo DigitalOcean droplet.
Hassell Social is built on modern technology (NestJS, Next.js 14, PostgreSQL) compared to PHP-based competitors. It includes features they don't have — reels, audio rooms, AI moderation, dating with geo-location, crowdfunding, creator studio, and 8 payment gateways. And it costs a fraction of the price.
Yes — the Extended and Developer licenses allow you to build and sell unlimited platforms for clients. The Standard license is for a single domain only.
You just paste your API keys in Admin → Settings → Payments. No code changes. Each gateway has a guide in the documentation showing exactly where to get your keys.
No. You pay once and own it forever. Updates are included for 1 year (lifetime on Developer plan). After that you keep using the version you have. Third-party services like Agora (live streaming) and OpenAI (AI features) have their own usage-based pricing, but those are optional.
